Procedure of Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Procedure

Using a very fine needle, the product is injected into the facial muscles and works by blocking the nerves that contract the muscles, thereby softening the appearance of the line or wrinkle. The skin above the muscles becomes nice and smooth after a period of between three to 14 days. It takes this time for the product to settle, attached itself to the nerve endings and get to work. A very fine needle is used and the treatment is considered painless by the majority of patients.

  • What can I expect to pay?+-

    Prices vary depending on the number of areas you’d like to have treated. Prices start from £170. There are of course cost savings on the treatment of multiple areas. You will only require this wrinkle treatment from as little as twice a year. The best advice isn’t to base your decision on cost but on the expertise of your practitioner.

  • Who will I meet at my initial consultation?+-

    You will meet with one of our Registered General Nurses at your free consultation who will carry out a detailed skin analysis (include link to skin scanner page) of your skin and make a recommendation on the best course of action for you and your skin. Should you wish to have anti-wrinkle treatment, a doctor will administer the injections. Should you wish to have Dermal Filler injections, your Registered General Nurse will administer these injections. The simple reason for this is that “Botox” is a prescription only and can only be carried out by a Doctor.

  • Who will carry out my treatment?+-

    At River Medical, a doctor will administer your anti-wrinkle injections. Should you wish to have Dermal Filler injections, your Registered General Nurse will administer these injections.

    Treatment is considered painless by the majority of patients. You will feel a little twinge but generally this is the extent of the sensation.

  • How long does it take?+-

    The treatment length varies depending on the number of areas being treated but generally it takes between 5 and 10 minutes.

  • How soon do I see results?+-

    You will see the full results between seven – 14 days after your treatment. It takes this time for the product to settle, attached itself to the nerve endings and get to work.

  • How long will the results last?+-

    You can expect the results to last between two and six months depending on your body’s metabolic system and the product that is used.   • Is there any downtime?+-

    No. You can go back to all regular activities immediately after treatment. You may experience mild swelling and redness however this typically settles after a few hours.

  • Are there any risks or side effects?+-

    Side effects include possible headaches, bruising and/or pain at the site of injection. There is a risk of drooping of the eyelids and eyebrows but this happens in less than 1% of cases and corrects itself within a few months.
