Procedure of Fraxel Dual

Procedure

Unlike other laser treatments, Fraxel works by treating a fraction of the skin at a time where by only the area in need of attention is treated. The treatment introduces a controlled thermal injury to the skin which stimulates the skin to heal itself, causing a surge in new collagen and elastin production. Most people see results after the very first treatment.

Your Questions Answered

  • What can I expect to pay?+-

Prices from £205 per treatment up to £440 per treatment for the full face. There is a significant cost saving when you book a course of treatments, it can bring the cost down to just £330 per treatment for the full face.

  • Who will I meet with at my consultation?+-

You will meet with one of our Registered General Nurses at your free consultation who will carry out a detailed skin analysis of your skin and make a recommendation on the best course of action for you and your skin. At River Medical we use what’s called the Antera Skin Scanner which was designed by scientists and product developers at Trinity College to measure the health of your skin. It will take a photo of your skin and take exact measurements or “scores”; looking at the contour (pore visibility, lines and wrinkles), haemoglobin (redness and blood vessels) and melanin (pigments and sun damage). You can return a few weeks later and measure the exact same area and track the improvement in your skin.

  • Who will carry out my treatment?+-

A highly experienced, River Medical, Registered General Nurse will carry out your treatment.

  • How many treatments will I need?+-

Many people see results after just one treatment but generally a course of Fraxel treatments will be recommended to get the best results. Your River Medical Nurse will discuss this in great detail at your free consultation.

  • Does it hurt?+-

As is the case with other laser treatments, the sensation is often described as a gradual increase of heat within the skin which is uncomfortable but tolerable. You don’t have to worry though as you will have a local anaesthetic applied to the area before the treatment. Skin can appear slightly pinkish and swollen for several days after the procedure but generally most people can return to their regular activities after a day or two.

  • What areas can I treat?+-

Fraxel dual can be used to treat acne scars, brown spots, sun spots, pigmentation and lines and wrinkles / ageing skin on both the face and body.

  • How long does it take?+-

The length of each treatment varies depending on the concern and area being treated but generally a treatment will take between 30 to 60 minutes. Your River Medical Nurse will discuss this in great detail at your free consultation.

  • How soon will I see results?+-

Most people see results after the very first treatment but of course results depend on the area being treated and your own individual skin concern, and how well your skin responds to the treatment.

  • How long will the results last?+-

Once the course is complete and the desired results achieved, results will really last into the years with top-ups recommended, perhaps once per year thereafter. Results and the length of the results really does vary from patient to patient and depend on your own individual skin type and skin concern but our door is always open to come back in for a free re-assessment, at any stage after you finish your course of treatments.

  • Is there any downtime?+-

Due to the accuracy of the Fraxel laser, there is some downtime, typically 24 to 48 hours but this will be discussed with you at your consultation.

Testimonials

I just celebrated my 51st birthday and I’ve never felt so good. I’ve been told that I look younger now than I did five years ago! I just cannot believe the results, I’m amazed. I would go as far to say that my skin feels like brand new skin, after just three treatments. I cannot wait to finish the course. I love Fraxel!
