At your initial consultation, your Consultant will explain the procedure in great detail; discuss the size and shape of your breasts, your expectations and what he/she can achieve for you. This makes sure you have realistic expectations of the results.
Aside from the important discussion regarding breast shape and size, your Surgeon will want to evaluate your current physical health and health history. This is to ensure you are a suitable candidate for surgery. Because this is an elective procedure, you and your Surgeon will, naturally, carefully discuss the benefits and risks involved, as is the case with any surgical procedure.-

Typically you will stay overnight in hospital after your procedure. You will need someone to take you home when you are discharged by your Surgeon as you will not be able to drive. You may have some dressings around your breasts and a surgical bra or elasticised bandage depending on your surgeon's preference.
Initially, your breasts will feel firm and may be swollen and will be sitting high on your chest. As the swelling goes down, they will drop into a more natural position and shape. Your Surgeon can tell you more about the typical recovery process and may make recommendations based on your individual case but by and large expect to take between 7-10 days off work. If your job is physical you may require more time. Everyone recovers differently and the River Medical team/we will monitor you closely to ensure the swiftest, safest and most comfortable recovery.
You can rest assured that your Surgeon and nursing staff will be on hand 24/7 to answer even the most minor or personal of questions you may have.-

Your journey of Breast Lift

Your Questions Answered

  • What can I expect to pay?+-

Cost should not be the deciding factor with an elective surgery like a breast lift. Trust, experience and aftercare are absolutely key and River Medical is widely recognised as the industry leader in Ireland. We are also proud to say that we adhere to the strictest of ethical guidelines and believe that only highly trained medical staff should advise on cosmetic procedures, be it surgical or non-surgical.

  • Who will I meet at my initial consultation?+-

You will meet with one of our Consultant Plastic Surgeons who will discuss everything with you including your expectations and desires, the procedure and the best type of procedure for you and your body, the results as well as any possible eventualities.

  • What is the recovery time like?+-

You will need to take 7 to 10 days off after your surgery. If your job is physical you may require more time. You will have an element of discomfort after your surgery which typically lasts one to ten days but this will be managed with the support of your Consultant Plastic Surgeon and River Medical Registered General Nurse. Generally you can return to all normal activities within 3-6 weeks. We encourage patients to get back to their normal life as soon as it feels comfortable for them. We feel that this really promotes and aids a speedy and successful recovery.

  • Am I a suitable candidate?+-

Breast Uplift is suitable for all women whose breasts have been affected by age and the natural pull of gravity, pregnancy, breastfeeding and/or weight loss, and want to achieve a more pert and youthful appearance.

  • Breast Augmentation versus Breast Uplift?+-

In some cases breast sagging can be corrected with breast augmentation (implants). This usually applies to people who have minimal sagging. It is also common for women to have a breast uplift with a breast augmentation. The best option for you to achieve your desired results will be discussed in great detail at your free consultation.

  • Will I be able to Breast Feed after the procedure?+-

As there are different approaches to this procedure, depending on your individual needs, this question cannot be answered until you meet with your Surgeon in person at your free consultation

  • How should I prepare for my procedure?+-

Preparation will begin with an initial consultation with your Consultant Plastic Surgeon, followed by a meeting with one of our Registered General Nurses. Each one will go through every aspect of the surgery in great detail. Prior to surgery you will return for a further comprehensive pre-operative assessment with your River Medical Nurse. Your Consultant will be available to you right up until your breast lift surgery should you wish to see him/her again.

  • Where will my surgery be carried out?+-

Your surgery should ONLY be carried out in a Private General Hospital that is fully accredited. A hospital environment is the safest and only adequate place to deal with any potential eventualities.

  • What sort of aftercare will I receive?+-

At River Medical, you will receive FREE and unlimited aftercare post surgery.

  • Will there be scarring?+-

Our Consultant Plastic Surgeons use very fine specialist stitching which minimises scarring. He/she will discuss this in great detail with you at your initial consultation. He/she will also show you actual photographs of similar incision sites that he/she has carried out on other patients.

  • Why choose River Medical?+-

We are widely regarded as being the industry leader in cosmetic surgery. At River Medical, we never compromise on the level of care and attention we give each and every one of our patients, every time, and we are committed to you from procedure right through to your 24/7, lifelong aftercare.

  • Why do you not have before and after pictures on your website?+-

Before and after pictures on websites can be misleading as they may not be patients of the Surgeon who will be carrying out your surgery. As every person has completely different expectations it is a much more valuable tool for your Consultant Plastic Surgeon to show you pictures of surgeries that he/she has carried out and discuss similar cases to your own, as well as the results that he/she can achieve for you and your body.

Testimonials

I was only 32 but felt I had the body of a woman in her 50s. My breasts had drooped significantly and lost all volume after having my children. I had implants with my uplift and couldn’t be happier with my decision. The unique sizing method at River Medical really impressed me. My Surgeon explained that he uses a ‘sizer’ during my procedure which is inserted and filled until the breast is “full”, perfectly shaped and not stretched in anyway. This really appealed to me as I was after a really natural look.
