Your Questions Answered
-
What can I expect to pay?+-
Price should not be a deciding factor with an elective surgery. Trust, experience and aftercare are absolutely key and River Medical is widely recognised as the industry leader in Ireland. We are also proud to say that we adhere to the strictest of ethical guidelines and believe that only highly trained medical staff should advise on cosmetic procedures, be it surgical or non-surgical.
-
Who will I meet at my initial consultation?+-
You will meet with one of our Consultant Plastic Surgeons who will discuss everything with you including your expectations and desires, the procedure and the best type of procedure for you and your body, the results as well as any possible eventualities.
-
What is the recovery time like?+-
Depending on the combination of procedures your Consultant Plastic Surgeon advises, the procedure can take 1 - 3 hours to complete. You will need to take 7 to 10 days off after your surgery. If your job is physical you may require more time. You will have an element of discomfort after your surgery which typically lasts 1 – 10 days but this will be managed with the support of your Consultant Plastic Surgeon and River Medical Registered General Nurse.
Generally you can return to all normal activities within 3-6 weeks. We encourage patients to get back to their normal life as soon as it feels comfortable for them. We feel that this really promotes and aids a speedy and successful recovery. Everyone recovers differently but you can rest assured that we will monitor you closely to ensure the swiftest, safest and most comfortable recovery. -
Am I a suitable candidate?+-
Less than 10% of women have identical breasts; for some women the differences can be more pronounced which can impact seriously on body image and self-esteem. Your Consultant will assess your suitability and will recommend the best treatment or combination of treatments for you and your body at a initial consultation.
-
Will I be able to Breast Feed after the procedure?+-
Generally you will not be able to breast feed after this procedure.
-
How should I prepare for my procedure?+-
Preparation will begin with an initial consultation with your Surgeon, followed by a meeting with one of our Registered General Nurses. Each one will go through every aspect of the surgery in great detail. Prior to surgery you will return for a further comprehensive pre-operative assessment with your River Medical Nurse. Your Consultant will be available to you right up until your surgery should you wish to see him/her again.
-
Where will my surgery be carried out?+-

We are widely regarded as being the industry leader in cosmetic surgery. At River Medical, we never compromise on the level of care and attention we give each and every one of our patients, every time, and we are committed to you from procedure right through to your 24/7, lifelong aftercare.
-
Why do you not have before and after pictures on your website?+-
Before and after pictures on websites can be misleading as they may not be patients of the surgeon who will be carrying out your surgery. As every person has completely different expectations, and different combinations of treatment requirements, it is a much more valuable tool for your Consultant Plastic Surgeon to show you pictures of surgeries that he/she has carried out and discuss similar cases to your own, as well as the results that he/she can achieve for you and your body.

Testimonials
My left breast was at least a full cup size larger than my right. I was so self conscious all my life, I hated getting undressed and literally had never worn a bikini until 3 months after my procedure. My next sun holiday has been booked already! I wish I’d had the courage to visit River Medical when I was a younger and hadn’t been so embarrassed. It’s the surgeon’s day job – that’s what I told myself. And he’s very good at his day job, take my word for it! Thank you River Medical.- River Medical patient on breast surgery for asymmetry
