Whilst no two breasts are identical in shape and size, in fact less than 10% of women have identical breasts; for some women the differences can be more pronounced which can impact seriously on body image and self-esteem. Breast asymmetry means that the breasts are different from each other in terms of size, shape and/or position. Breast asymmetry correction involves a procedure or combination of procedures to reduce the differences between the two breasts.

At your initial consultation, your Consultant will explain the procedure in great detail; discuss the size and shape of your breasts, your expectations and what he/she can achieve for you. This makes sure you have realistic expectations of the results.
Aside from the important discussion regarding breast shape and size, your Surgeon will want to evaluate your current physical health and health history. This is to ensure you are a suitable candidate for surgery. Because this is an elective procedure, you and your Surgeon will, naturally, carefully discuss the benefits and risks involved, as is the case with any surgical procedure.-

Typically you will stay overnight in hospital after your procedure. You will need someone to take you home when you are discharged by your Surgeon as you will not be able to drive. You may have some dressings around your breasts and a surgical bra or elasticised bandage depending on your surgeon's preference.
Initially, your breasts will feel firm and may be swollen and will be sitting high on your chest. As the swelling goes down, they will drop into a more natural position and shape. Your Surgeon can tell you more about the typical recovery process and may make recommendations based on your individual case but by and large expect to take between 7-10 days off work. If your job is physical you may require more time. Everyone recovers differently and the River Medical team/we will monitor you closely to ensure the swiftest, safest and most comfortable recovery.
You can rest assured that your Surgeon and nursing staff will be on hand 24/7 to answer even the most minor or personal of questions you may have.-

Depending on the combination of procedures your Consultant Plastic Surgeon advises, the procedure can take 1 - 3 hours to complete. You will need to take 7 to 10 days off after your surgery. Testimonials

My left breast was at least a full cup size larger than my right. I was so self conscious all my life, I hated getting undressed and literally had never worn a bikini until 3 months after my procedure. My next sun holiday has been booked already! I wish I’d had the courage to visit River Medical when I was a younger and hadn’t been so embarrassed. It’s the surgeon’s day job – that’s what I told myself. And he’s very good at his day job, take my word for it! Thank you River Medical.
