A key aspect of preparing for any surgery is that your Surgeon understands your desires and expectations. At your initial consultation, your Consultant will explain the procedure in great detail, discuss your expectations and what he/she can achieve for you, ensuring you have realistic expectations of the results.
Your Surgeon will also want to evaluate your current physical health and health history, ensuring you are a suitable candidate for surgery. Because this is an elective procedure, you and your Surgeon will naturally carefully discuss the benefits and risks involved, as is the case with any surgical procedure.-

Typically you will stay overnight in hospital after your procedure. You will need someone to take you home when you are discharged by the Surgeon as you will not be able to drive. You may have bruising or swelling around the areas that were treated. Your Surgeon will tell you more about the typical recovery process and may make recommendations based on your individual case but by and large expect to take between 5-10 days off work. If your job is physical you may require more time. Everyone recovers differently but you can rest assured that we will monitor you closely to ensure the swiftest, safest and most comfortable recovery.-

Your Questions Answered

  • What can I expect to pay?+-

Cost should not be the deciding factor with an elective surgery. Trust, experience and aftercare are absolutely key, and River Medical is widely recognised as the industry leader in Ireland. We are also proud to say that we adhere to the strictest of ethical guidelines and believe that only highly trained medical staff should advise on cosmetic procedures, be it surgical or non-surgical.

  • Who will I meet at my initial consultation?+-

You will meet with one of our Consultant Plastic Surgeons who will discuss everything with you including your expectations and desires, the procedure and the best type of procedure for you, the results as well as any possible eventualities.

  • What is the recovery time like?+-

You will need to take 5 to 7 days off after your surgery. If your job is physical you may require more time. Everyone recovers differently and the River Medical team will monitor you closely. You will have an element of discomfort after your surgery which typically lasts 1-10 days but this will be managed with the support of your Consultant Plastic Surgeon and River Medical Registered General Nurse. We encourage patients to get back to their normal life as soon as it feels comfortable for them. We feel that this really promotes and aids a speedy and successful recovery. Everyone recovers differently but you can rest assured that we will monitor you closely to ensure the swiftest, safest and most comfortable recovery.

  • Am I a suitable candidate?+-

Your Consultant will assess your suitability and will recommend the best treatment for you at your free consultation. One of our Registered General Nurses will be present at your consultation to ensure you are entirely comfortable and at ease. You will also have a private meeting with the Nurse afterwards who will answer any additional questions you may have.

  • How should I prepare for my procedure?+-

Preparation will begin with an initial consultation with your Consultant Plastic Surgeon and a River Medical Registered General Nurse. Your Nurse will be present at your consultation to ensure you are entirely comfortable and at ease. You will also have a private meeting with your Nurse afterwards who will answer any additional questions you may have. Each of them will go through every aspect of the surgery. Prior to surgery you will return for a further pre-operative assessment with your River Medical Nurse. Your Consultant will be available to you right up until your surgery should you wish to see him/her again.

  • Where will my surgery be carried out?+-

Your vaginal surgery should only be carried out in a Private General Hospital that is fully accredited. A hospital environment is the safest and only adequate place to deal with any potential eventualities.

  • What sort of aftercare will I receive?+-

At River Medical, you will receive FREE and unlimited aftercare post surgery.

  • Will there be scarring?+-

Scarring is generally not an issue in this area due to the make up of the tissue. The area has an excellent blood supply and therefore healing is incredibly fast.

  • Why choose River Medical?+-

We are widely regarded as being the industry leader in cosmetic surgery. At River Medical, we never compromise on the level of care and attention we give each and every one of our patients, every time, and we are committed to you from procedure right through to your 24/7, lifelong aftercare.

  • Why do you not have before and after pictures on your website?+-

Before and after pictures on websites can be misleading as they may not be patients of the surgeon who will be carrying out your surgery. As every person has completely different expectations and different treatment requirements, it is a much more valuable tool for your Consultant to show pictures of not only surgeries that he/she has carried out but also show you results you will be likely to achieve.

Testimonials

The team at River Medical really helped put me at ease. My surgeon, Dr Chatzis was really down to earth and approachable, as were the team of nurses. Of course I was pretty nervous on the day of my surgery but after my morning visit from Dr. Chatzis and my pre surgery nurse, I felt fine, even relaxed. I felt safe and cared for throughout. Two months on and I’m delighted, I would definitely recommend River Medical and the procedure.
